Seniors December Medal

What a difference a day makes!! Yesterday - gale force winds and lashing it down ... today - bright sunshine and virtually windless. Thanks to the green-keepers for making the course playable today.
Twenty-seven seniors competed in the Stableford medal today which was postponed earlier this month due to on-going ground-works. Only two ladies could play today, so it was played as a mixed medal. Also, a couple of non-seniors (Jeremy & Jason) played with us today (not in the competition) and were made very welcome. Due to the damp conditions (I guess), the scores weren't record-breaking and in fact the competition was calculated as being "reductions only".
Today's winner with a score of 35pts was Raymond Bilton. The runner-up was decided on count-back with Barry Heath just edging out Linda Vale, Derrick Perrin and Jim Green after all four carded 34pts.
Full result - click here.
Just two 2's were recoded this month - Raymond Bilton (2nd hole) and John Day (6th hole). This was a roll-over pot from last month and, as Raymond didn't enter the two's, John scooped the "jackpot"!!

Turkey Trot

Just fourteen players for this year's Turkey Trot Stableford competition played with just two clubs and a putter. A small field, but a good time was had by all competitors and some excellent scores returned!!
Today's winner was Geoff Denner with 39pts. Runner-up, just one point further back was the in-form John Baron followed by Jason Allum in third place on 37pts. They are now all wondering why they lug the other 11 clubs around with them week after week!! All players earned a prize for today thanks to the generosity of captains Paul and Sian.
Full result - click here.
There was also an extra prize for the best dressed turkey!!! No contest ... Kim Richardson by a mile!!!

Seniors Xmas Fayre

Thick fog and chilly conditions greeted the Seniors at NRGC, who played in the Seniors Christmas Fayre Texas Scramble.  After a delayed start, the teams of 3 took to the course, and produced some good scores in spite of the conditions.  Winning team, with a nett score of 58.0 was Derrick Perrin, Liz Evans and Judy Willson.  Second place went to the Mike Pritchard, Richard Aldred, Ofer Ben-David combination, when they returned a score of nett 58.4.  In third place, was the team led by Seniors Captain John Day, accompanied by Jan Hinks and Bob Evans with their score of 59.0.

At the Seniors Christmas Fayre, everyone is a winner, as all players bring a prize, and players choose their prize from the table.  Players and partners enjoyed a Christmas Meal following the game.

Wendy Seymour Texas Scramble

A very enjoyable and successful day today at the Racecourse for the annual Wendy Seymour Texas Scramble. The players assembled early at the clubhouse for some bacon rolls and beverages ready for a shotgun start at 8:30. Our thanks go to the Wessex Club for providing the catering for this before first light!! Twenty teams of three competed today including seven teams of visitors. It was nice to see many ex-members and old friends still supporting this event and special thanks to Paul Seymour & Dan for presenting the prizes. Overall we raised £342 today for the Rarer Cancers Foundation - thanks to everyone for their generosity.

Appropriately, the top scoring team overall today were Dan Seymour, Scott Vodkins & Charlie Butler who scored a very impressive 53.2 (gross 60) to take the prize of the best visiting team.

For the club event, the winners were Roy Martinez, Ian Martinez & Mike Smith on 55.0 (gross 64). Runners-up on count-back were John Day, John Baron & Stuart Briginshaw whose back 6 holes was just fractionally better than Derrick Perrin, Jim Green & Tommy Lees after both teams scored nett 55.4

Seniors Stableford

Unfortunately, the scheduled Seniors Medal had to be cancelled today as two of the holes were closed due to ongoing groundworks on the course. No matter ... the thirty-eight players who attended today played a 16-hole Stableford competition instead! The Seniors Medal has been re-scheduled to Thursday 19th December. Chilly conditions again today with some light drizzle first thing, but it soon cleared away.
The winner of today's competition was Gordon Turner with an excellent 39pts - pretty good for just 16 holes!! The next three players all returned 36pts with Richard Aldred claiming the runners-up spot on count-back just ahead of Jim Green and Allan Trotman.

December Medal

Just fourteen players (13 men and 1 lady) for today's Stableford competition played as one mixed division. Quite chilly to start the day, but at least it stayed nice and dry!!
The winner today with a career best round of gross 75 was Jeremy Twaits who amassed 45pts. Runner-up, also with an impressive score was John Baron on 41pts followed by Ofer Ben-David 3pts further back.
Full result - click here.
Two 2's were recorded today - Rowland Barnfield on the 14th and Dave Warwick on the 16th. Both had entered the pool so share the spoils.
This is the second medal counting toward the Winter Medal Aggregate competition (best 3 nett scores from the 4 winter medals). Only those players who have played in both medals so far are shown in this list.

Seniors 1-2-3 Stableford

Quite a mild and pleasant day for this week's seniors event which was a 1-2-3 Stableford with teams of three. Also interesting to see the changes starting to take place on the course with all the new mounding and new tees going in - HUGE amounts of soil everywhere!!! Looking forward to see how it all progresses.
Today's winning team with an excellent score of 77pts were Sam Whiting, Brian Grace & Ofer Ben-David. Runners-up on 72pts were Jim Green, Richard Cross & Chris Piper followed by Malcolm Passey, Roy Whiting & Liz Evans just one point further back.
Full result - click here.

Seniors Bowmaker Stableford

Not the best of weather to be out on the course today, but the hardy seniors were still out there and most completed their rounds today - well done!!! Today's competition was a Bowmaker Stableford (teams of three with the best two scores to count on each hole) which was reduced to 15 holes only because of the course improvement work taking place this week. Twelve teams competed for the prizes.
The winners with an impressive score of 67pts were Colin Cox, Barry Heath & John Baron (a token senior for the day!). Runners-up on 62pts were Ken Croucher, Roy Whiting & Sam Whiting followed by Bob Stevenson, Mike Workman & Derrick Perrin two points further back.

Course update ...

We are keen to keep you as up to date as we can with developments on site.

For those who have been playing during the last ten days or so, you will have noticed work has slowed down a little. The very wet weather of the week before had caused the ground conditions to deteriorate to the point where work was very difficult. We have been able to complete some work but we are slightly behind schedule and because of this, we are planning increased activity this week, using slightly different routes to those originally planned. Unfortunately, this will mean that in order to ensure complete safety for golfers, play will not be possible on the 1st, 2nd and 9th at certain times and rather than chop and change all week, we are proposing to use a composite course of 15 holes from Monday for the remainder of the week. This will involve starting on the 10th tee, then playing in the following order 10th, 11th, 7th, 8th, 3rd, 4th, 5th 6th, 12th, then 13th – 18th.

I know the Seniors have a Bowmaker planned on Wednesday and they will arrange a plan for this event and unfortunately we will have to postpone the midweek comps planned for Thursday/Friday.

Apologies for this unintended disruption, but this is precisely why we hope members will take the opportunity to come and play at Newbury & Crookham. There are very few tee bookings at N&C at this time of year and the course will be fairly free all week, although I would still advise ringing ahead on 01635 31201, just to ensure you get the quietest possible game.

On a positive note, we are delighted with the work that has been completed so far and although disruptive this week, the work being carried out now will help speed up the improvement process.

Ed Richardson.

Mixed Open

The Racecourse welcomed visitors from six different golf clubs (Bishopswood, Bramshott Hill, Deanwood Park,  Donnington Grove, Hamptworth and Newbury & Crookham who are now managing the racecourse golf club) to play in their annual Mixed Open today. A good field of 44 players took part in this four-ball better-ball Stableford competition which was played in relatively calm but overcast conditions.

The winning team with an excellent score of 46pts were Paul Seymour (Donnington Grove) and Allison Holmes (Newbury Racecourse). Runners-up on 41pts were Jason Allum (NRGC) and Pam Best (Bishopswood) followed by Richard & Cilla Osgood (Newbury & Crookham) who just pipped John Butcher (NRGC) & Sian Soanes (NRGC) on countback after both teams returned 39pts. Full result - click here.

The two nearest-the-pins were won by Judy Willson (NRGC) on the 6th hole and Lorraine Storey (Donnington Grove) on the 16th.  Two players shared the 2's competition; Dave Warwick (NRGC) on the 11th, and Paul Seymour (Donnington Grove) on the 14th.

Afterwards, the competitors enjoyed an excellent meal prepared by the Wessex. The raffle and 2's pool raised £310 for our Charity of the Day which was the DEC Philippines Typhoon Appeal.

Special thanks to Libby, Paul, Sian and the rest of the committee for their hard work in organising this competition and to all the players for supporting the event and a very worthwhile cause.

Winners Paul Seymour & Allison Holmes with Captains Paul Hickey & Sian Soanes

Runners-up - Jason Allum & Pam Best

Third place - Richard & Cilla Osgood

Seniors Texas Scramble

That was a bit more like the sort of weather we expect for the Seniors!!! A bit chilly first thing, but some nice sunshine for everyone! Today's competition was a Texas Scramble with eleven teams of three players taking part.
All very close at the end with the top three teams all returning the same score of 59.8. The winners on count-back were Sam Whiting, Mike Workman & Jan Hinks. Runners-up were Jim Green, Harry Jackson & Liz Evans followed by Derrick Perrin, Tommy Lees & Gordon Turner.

November Greensomes

An unpleasant day today weather-wise. A bit chilly for the early starters and plenty of rain to test the resolve of all the competitors. Well done to all for completing their rounds. No misery on the scoring front though with some excellent totals being returned in this greensomes Stableford competition.
The winners today with a super score of 42pts were Jason Allum & Geoff Denner. The next four places were all decided on count-back all with scores of 39pts. Kim Richardson & Allison Holmes grabbed the runners-up spot from Rowland Barnfield & Steve Simm, Roy & Sam Whiting and Jon Miller & Mark Allen. Full result - click here.

This was the last event of the year with points counting towards the individual Order of Merit. Sian Soanes managed to hang on to her lead to win the Order of Merit with a total of 58pts just four ahead of runner-up John Day. Final points standings - click here.

Seniors November Medal

Not very pleasant conditions for the Seniors Medal yesterday which probably explains the relatively low turn out and the relatively high scoring!! What's going on!?!? It's usually always decent weather for the "wrinklies"!! However, well done to the 21 players who braved the elements - even if they didn't all manage to finish, and to Sam Whiting - the only senior lady to compete in the competition.
The winner on count-back was Roy Whiting with a nett 74. Richard Aldred was runner-up on the same score and the lowest gross of the day (86). Third place went to Chris Moore, also on count-back.
Full result - click here.

The high scoring meant that the competition was calculated as "Reductions Only" and, with no 2's recorded, the two's pool will roll over to the December Medal.

November Medal

Fifteen players (9 men and 6 ladies) for this month's medal which was the first of the four Winter Stableford Medals. There was one division for the men and, as there were six ladies, a separate ladies medal (for a change!!). It looks like the players also enjoyed the best of the weekend weather as well.

In the men's competition, Phil Knight was the outright winner with an excellent 39pts. The in-form John Baron was runner-up just ahead of Paul Hickey on count-back after both recorded 38pts each.
Full result - click here.

In the ladies division, Kim Richardson was the clear victor with another excellent 39pts. Tina Hawkins was runner-up closely followed by Sian Soanes. Full result - click here.

Just one 2 recorded this week from Chris Moore at the tricky 6th. Chris scoops the two's pool which was also a roll-over from last month!!!

Once again we are running a Winter Medal Aggregate competition for the four winter medals in Nov, Dec, Jan & Feb. The best three nett score from these four medals will win the prize. You must complete at least three medals to have a chance of winning. The prize is free entry to a number of next year's competitions - details to follow. Well worth winning, so make sure you enter the winter medals!!!

Seniors Bowmaker

Much nicer conditions for today's seniors get-together which was a Bowmaker Strokeplay competition. Eleven teams of three (except for two teams who had to play a "Doris"!!) competed for the prizes.
Count-back was required to decide today's winners after the top two teams both returned a score of 134. Jim Green, Brian Grace & John Clarke edged the victory over Allan Trotman, Bob Evans & Jan Hinks with a better back 9 holes. Third place went to Derrick Perrin, Roy Whiting & Alan Owen on 136. Full result - click here.

October Fourball

Fourteen pairings played in the October Fourball today. This is a better-ball strokeplay competition played from the white tees for the men. Very tough conditions today with a strong wind blowing but fortunately no rain until the latter part of the round for a few of the later starters.
Today's winners were John Baron & John Day with a score of 69. Just one stroke back in the runners-up spot were the senior stalwarts of Derrick Perrin & Brian Grace. Third place went to Steve Gould & Paul Smith with a very respectable 71. Full result - click here.

This is the penultimate counting competition for the individual Order of Merit. The final counting competition is next month's November Greensomes. Sian Soanes still leads the way on 57pts with her lead over John Day now cut to just 4pts. Looks like it might be between these two for the trophy!! Latest standings - click here.

PS. The OOM list published earlier did not include the points awarded for the Captains Cup. Apologies - this has now been rectified. (Thank-you Jeremy for pointing out this omission).

Seniors Four-ball Stableford

Today's competition for the seniors was a Four-Ball Better-ball Stableford with 16 pairings competing for the prizes. After yesterday's deluge, the course was in remarkably good condition although playing long with the softer ground. There was also a strong south-westerly blowing across the course which made scoring even more of a challenge!
The winners today with an excellent 41pts were Brian Faithfull & Jan Hinks. Two points behind were runners-up Derrick Perrin & Richard Hook. Roy Whiting & Les Eden sneaked into third place on countback ahead of Allan Trotman & Richard Cross and John Butcher & Linda Vale after all three pairings returned 38pts. Full result - click here.

Captains Cup

Certainly a mixed bag of weather for today's Captain's Cup and Drive-In. There were some heavy showers early this morning, but they thankfully cleared away for the captain's drive-ins.
Paul Hickey (men's captain), Sian Soanes (ladies captain) and Brian Grace (standing in for seniors captain John Day) got proceedings under way with the traditional tee-shots down the 13th fairway. The winning pegs were from Denise Matthews, Phil Knight and Paul Hickey.

Thirty-six players then played an 18 Hole Stableford with a shotgun start for the Captains Cup. Three-quarters of the way through the round, the players were called off the course whilst some lightning cleared away, then back out again to complete the round. Unfortunately, the last few holes for most were played in some very heavy showers making scoring very challenging. But, this didn't dampen the spirits of the hardy racecourse players!!

The winner of the Captains Cup today was John Baron with a very worthy 39pts. Runner-up was Jeremy Twaits just two points adrift followed by Phil Knight (36pts) in 3rd place. Full result - click here.
The longest drive prizes went to Jason Allum and Fay Unsworth, with Fay also collecting the nearest-the pin prize. Thanks to all who took part and raised £265 for today's chosen charity - The Willow Foundation.

Captains Cup winner - John Baron

October Weekday Stableford

Just five players for this months Weekday Stableford played on Friday 18th Oct. The winner by one point was Tim Page with an excellent 41pts. Adrian Hayward was the close runner-up followed by Garry Golding on 38pts. Full result - click here.

Seniors v Deanwood

The Seniors played their final inter-club match of the season yesterday against our friends from Deanwood Park. The conditions were hard with a strong north-easterly wind blowing and unfortunately some rain for the final few holes for the last groups out. It was also nice to include some of our senior ladies in this match.
Home advantage told in the end with the result going in favour of the Racecourse by 5 1/2 - 1/2. Following the golf we were treated to yet another excellent meal and our thanks go to Pat and Rachel for that.

Seniors Texas Scramble

Today's seniors event was a Texas Scramble competition with twelve teams of three competing for the prizes. A slightly sterner test today on the course with a rather brisk westerly wind blowing, but still the scoring was excellent.
The winners with an outstanding score of 54.0 (gross 66) were John Butcher, Mike Pritchard & Jan Hinks. Runners-up on 58.0 were the team of Rod Spring, Judy Willson & Linda Vale closely followed by Paul Tebbutt, John Clarke & Chris Piper.

October Medal

Just a small field for today's medal so it was played in a single mixed division. However, those who did play were rewarded with some very nice weather in this extended summer we seem to be enjoying!
The scoring today was very close with the top five players separated by just one shot. Stuart Briginshaw was the winner today just beating John Baron on count-back after both carded nett 70. Mark Richardson grabbed third spot with the lowest gross just ahead of Jeremy Twaits and Jason Allum with all three returning nett 71. Full result - click here.
Just one 2 recorded today by John Baron but unfortunately he didn't enter the two's pool so it will roll-over until next month!

Today's competition was the last of the summer medals and therefore marked the conclusion of two other competitions.
The Owen Millennium Trophy (best 4 gross scores) was won by Josh Wallin on a total of 309, followed by John Day and Mark Richardson. Full result - click here.
The Summer Medal Aggregate competition (best 4 nett scores) was headed by Roger Carter (265) followed by Mark Richardson and Paul Tebbutt. Full result - click here.

October Seniors Medal

Thirty-four seniors played today in the October Medal. As there were only 3 ladies competing, it was played as a mixed competition. We expected some rain today but were pleasantly surprised by the dry, warm conditions!
Today's winner with an excellent nett 70 (and lowest gross of 77) was our new seniors captain John Day. Runner-up on the same score of 70 (but with not quite such a good back 9 as John) was Chris Piper. The next three players also had to be separated on count-back with Brian Faithfull just edging out Derrick Perrin and Roy Whiting after all three players returned nett 71. Full result - click here.
The were four 2's recorded today - Raymond Bilton at the 11th, John Day and Mike Workman at the 16th and Brian Faithfull at the 14th. Fortunately for Brian, he was the only one who invested his money in the two's pool so scooped the lot!!!

September Weekday Stableford

Ten players (7 men and 3 ladies) for the September Weekday Stableford which was played on Thu 26th/Fri 27th Sep and some excellent scoring.
The winner this month was Patrick Brind with an impressive 41pts. One point behind was runner-up John Cooper followed by Phil Knight and Tim Page on 39pts and 38pts respectively. Full result - click here.

Seniors Bowmaker

Today's event for the Seniors was a Bowmaker Stroke-Play competition played in teams of three with the best two nett scores counting on each hole. Quite a foggy start to the day and with very little breeze, it took a while for it to clear. Once this cleared, we were again treated to a very pleasant late summer's day.
The winning team today with an excellent score of 123 were Allan Trotman, Sandy Deacon & Ofer Ben-David. Runners-up on 126 were Sam Whiting, Steve Vale & Tom Wallin followed by Paul Tebbutt, Ted Fitzsimons & Chris Piper a further two strokes back.

Keith Knight Cup

Today's seniors event was a board competition - The Keith Knight Cup. This is a mixed Stableford competition with the men playing from the white tees. Thirty-two players (26 men and 6 ladies) competed for the prizes. Following the deluge of yesterday, the course was in surprisingly good condition with very little excess water and the greens were excellent. Our thanks once again to Richard and his team for preparing the course.
Today's winner with 43pts (and a very good gross 76) was Paul Tebbutt. Runner-up and playing in the same group was Tom Wallin who just pipped Linda Vale on count-back after both returned 39pts. Linda nearly completed her hat-trick as she was runner-up in 2011 and 2012. Fourth place went to Liz Evans on 38pts just beating John Butcher on the same score. Full details - click here.

Ladies Farewell Tea and Golf Day

The Ladies of Newbury Racecourse held their outgoing Lady Captains farewell tea and golf day, that saw lady members dress for the occasion in honour of their outgoing Lady Captain (a former Head Mistress).

Much to the surprise of other players and those going onto the range, school girls poured out of the clubhouse onto the course.  The swirling wind did nothing for the schoolgirl hair do's and hats, nor the rain that followed. Sian kindly provided goodies for the starting hut, which became the Tuck Shop for the afternoon. Another schoolgirl managed to infiltrate the course earlier, and secreted some rather nasty looking vermin in the 7th and 9th holes, so the first person to putt out was treated to a nasty shock. In true gung-ho style, all ladies finished the 9 hole Bowmaker and retreated to the Clubhouse.

The Headmistress - sorry, Ladies Captain, took charge of the meal, and various punishments were issued when misdemeanours occurred!  It is believed that some lady members are still standing in line outside the Ladies Changing Room!!!!!!! The winning team on the day was led by Fay Unsworth, ably assisted by Jean Raincock, Liz Evans and Judy Willson.
A memorable afternoon to end a fantastic year.
Thank you Jan - you've made it fun!

Seniors Captains Day

An excellent fun day of golf for the seniors today at the racecourse and even the weather was kind to us. A little chilly, but we all stayed dry!! Today's event was a Texas Scramble and the scoring from the teams of three was really excellent and very close.

The winning team with a score of 54.2 were Allan Trotman, Linda Vale & Barry Heath. Runners-up on 55.0 were Sam Whiting, Paul Tebbutt & Gordon Turner followed by Tommy Lees, Ofer Ben-David and Jan Hinks who just pipped Tom Wallin, Derrick Perrin & Ken Croucher on count-back after both teams scored 55.4
The nearest-the-pin prizes went to Linda Vale on the 2nd hole and Raymond Bilton on the 16th. The longest drive for the men was won by welcome visitor Jim Purvis (8th hole) and for the ladies Sam Whiting (9th hole).
Full result - click here.

Afterwards, the players were treated to a buffet to celebrate an excellent year from Roy as seniors captain. Many thanks to Roy for organising this "farewell" competition as seniors captain, although I suspect Sam may have helped him just a little!?!?

Raymond Bilton - NTP 16th hole
Sam Whiting - Longest Drive - 9th hole
Jim Purvis - Longest Drive - 8th hole
Linda Vale - NTP 2nd hole
3rd place - Tommy Lees, Jan Hinks & Ofer Ben-David

Today's seniors event was a Flag Competition with the top 3 places winning a prize. Adding the par of the course to their handicap to give them a number of shots to use, each competitor tries to go as far as they can using their allotted number of strokes. In ideal  scoring conditions, 12 players managed to complete more than 18 holes using their handicap. The winner was Mike Workman who completed 20 holes followed by runner-up Rod Spring who made it to the 2nd green. Sandy Deacon grabbed third place on count-back from Les Eden, Jim Green and Derrick Perrin all of whom completed the first extra hole. Bank Holiday Roll-up

Twenty players took part in today's holiday roll-up Stableford which included five ladies, seniors and men including some guests. There probably would have been more, but they were committed to matches.
It was great to have a fun comp which included ladies, seniors and men all playing together and the weather was very good as well!!
Jeremy Twaits and Derrick Perrin both finished on 44 points with Jeremy winning first prize on count-back. Full result - click here. There were also two card draws adding scores together to determine 3 more prizes. Everyone seemed to enjoy the competition. There is a list of future dates for roll-ups on the board in the clubhouse entrance. Depending on how these roll ups turn out, we will start to include things like nearest-the-pin in the future.
A big thank you to every one who came along and played and a special thank-you to Derrick Perrin for his hard work and dedication in running the roll-ups.

Seniors August Medal

A slightly smaller field for the Seniors medal this month as a number of the regulars are away "on tour"!! Nevertheless, a decent field of 25 men and a separate ladies medal with 4 competitors. Good scoring conditions today with some warm sunshine, a gentle breeze and the course in excellent condition.

The men took full advantage of the conditions and there were nine scores of par or better. Today's winner was John Clark who just beat Mike Pritchard on count-back after both returned excellent cards of nett 66. Third place was also decided on count-back with Tom Wallin beating Tommy Lees and Chris Piper all having scored 67. The lowest gross of the day was 81 from Paul Tebbutt. Full result - click here.

In the ladies event, Linda Vale was the victor with a nett 72 closely followed by Sandy Deacon and Sam Whiting who recorded the lowest gross for the ladies. Full result - click here.

Curiously, with all the good scores today, not a single two was recorded, so the two's pool rolls over to next month.

A big thanks to birthday girl Sandy Deacon who provided the seniors with some mouth-watering home-made cakes and also two bottles of wine which were won in a draw by Bob Evans and Rod Spring.

August Medal

Eighteen players (15 men  and 3 ladies) for today's medal played in two mixed divisions. Warm conditions again with a stern south-westerly breeze to keep everyone on their toes.

Division 1
Winner in the top division for the fourth time this year was Mark Richardson. This was a lesson in not letting one bad hole ruin your day! After a decent front nine, Mark racked up a 10 on the par five 10th hole, but that didn't deter him as he then proceeded to par the last eight holes to return a total of nett 69. Runner-up was Dean Butler on nett 70 followed by John Day just one stroke further back and the lowest gross of the day (78). Full result - click here.

Division 2
In the second division, Rowland Barnfield captured his second medal of the year with a nett 70. Runner-up was young Andrew Mead with another steady 71. John Cooper grabbed third spot from Roy Whiting and Geoff Denner on count-back. Full result - click here.

Two's
Just two 2's recorded today. Geoff Denner on the 2nd and John Cooper on the 14th. Both had entered the two's pool so share the prize.

Owen Millennium Trophy
Another counting medal for the Owen Millennium Trophy (best 4 gross scores from the strokeplay medals from March to October). Josh Wallin still holds top spot with John Day and Dave Warwick not too far behind. Latest listing - click here.

Summer Medal Aggregate
Roger Carter is still the man to beat in this competition as he holds a 10 stroke lead over Paul Tebbutt in second spot plus another three strokes from Andrew Mead in third. We haven't given up yet!!

Seniors Texas Scramble

Today's get-together for the Seniors was a Texas Scramble. Twelve teams of three competed for the prizes. A dry day which was a bit unexpected after seeing the weather forecast. Also the course was a bit more forgiving following the recent welcome rain.
The winners today with an excellent score of 55.8 were Tommy Lees, Judy Willson & Sandy Deacon. The runners-up spot was decided on count-back with John Day, Barry Heath & Gordon Turner just edging out Brian Faithfull, Derrick Perrin & Richard Cross after both teams carded 57.4
Full result - click here.

Really great to see Al Drennan back today even if he is not playing yet. Knowing Al ... it won't be too long before he's back out on the course!!

Parker Hart Fourball

Excellent conditions for today's Parker Hart Four ball. Just when you thought the scoring can't possibly get any better .... it does. There were many excellent scores but the winners with a phenomenal effort were Dave & Jill Warwick with a nett 59. Although the course is running well, this is 3/4 handicap with men off the white tees and, as always, you still have to get that little ball in the hole. The unlucky runners-up, still with an excellent score of 63, were Christine Cooper & Fay Unsworth. John Butcher & Sian Soanes won the count-back battle for third place just ahead of Brian & Denise Matthews after both pairings scored 64.
Full result - click here.

Another counting competition for the Order of Merit. After some excellent results, Christine Cooper has opened up a 5 point lead at the top from John Day. The chasing pack is headed by Sian Soanes.
Latest listing - click here.

July Weekday Stableford

Twelve players for this month's Weekday Stableford played on Thu 25th & Fri 26th Jul. Many excellent scores but the winner on 44pts was Adrian Hayward. Runner-up with 42pts was Steve Simm followed by Bob Stevenson just one point further back.
