A chilly northerly wind was blowing across the course today for the seniors Texas Scramble making scoring quite tricky, but at least it was dry again!! Eleven teams of three players competed for the prizes.
Today's winning team were Jim Green, Barry Heath & Ofer Ben-David who just pipped Chris Moore, Tom Wallin & Frank Morley on count-back after both teams scored exactly 60.2. Third place went to Richard Aldred, Stuart Briginshaw & Mike Miller with a score of 61.8.

Competition Entries
Now we have successfully re-located into our new base in Nuffield, there is a new process for entering club competitions. Unfortunately, we have not been able to find a place to locate the stamp machine.
The entry sheets for up and coming competitions will be located on a notice board just inside the golf club office area and competition stamps (£3 per stamp) will be available to purchase from the golf reception. You can then put your stamp with your name on it onto the relevant entry sheet. Our treasurer, Sam Whiting, still has some stamps available to purchase direct from her.
Please buy stamps and enter the competitions in plenty of time before the closing dates as it makes the organisation of booking tee times and doing the draws a lot simpler.
Why not buy a few stamps in advance so you are ready to "lick-em & stick-em" in plenty of time?!
Many thanks.

Seniors 123 Waltz Strokeplay
A bit of a misty and chilly start for the seniors today but no complaints ... it's still DRY!!!
Twelve teams of three competed today in a 123-Waltz Strokeplay. Well ... most of them did apart from the ones who didn't read the rules on the start sheet, played it as a Stableford and had to be DQ'd - sorry!
Today's winning team with a score of 132 were Paul Tebbutt, Rod Spring & Steve Vale. Runners-up, just one stroke behind were Malcolm Passey, Geoff Denner & John Clark followed by Allan Trotman, Brian Grace & Steve Thompson on 135.

Carole Scott Cup
Next Saturday 15th March, it is the Carole Scott Cup. This is a mixed singles Stableford competition with the men playing from the white tees. With all the upheaval of changing from our old clubhouse to Nuffield, I know alot of you have not been able to put your names down for this event yet.
We don't yet have an exact procedure set in place for competition entries in our new base - we are working on this and it should be in place within the next week or so. Also, the usual stamp machine is not available at present.
If you want to enter the Carole Scott Cup, please let me know by email ( paul.tebbutt@nrgc.co.uk ) or by text on 079292 10534. We will sort out the entry fees on the day.
Many thanks for your patience.

March Medal
What a beautiful day to play golf!! Spring-like weather with plenty of sunshine, a gentle breeze and many brave souls in shirt sleeves!! Unfortunately, for some strange reason, the scoring today didn't really match the conditions with only two players recording under par scores?!?
The winner today was John Baron with a nett 70 closely followed by his playing partner Jason Allum on nett 71. Third place went to Dean Butler on nett 72. Full result - click here.
Just one 2 recorded today by John Baron on the tricky 8th hole. Unfortunately, John did not enter the two's pool so there will be a roll-over to next month's medal - nobody likes to see that do they?!?!?
The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that the men's handicaps on the result sheet are one higher than their normal playing handicaps. This is because it is a mixed stroke play competition and on the current scorecard, the men's SSS is one more than the ladies SSS. So for results purposes, the men are given an additional shot on their handicap. This is what the "Appendix O rules applied" message is referring to on the bottom of the result sheet. Apologies from me for not picking this up and relaying it to competitors before start of play. Look out ... it may change again when we get the new tees in play and the new scorecards!!

Thanks from Judy ...
I would just like to say (as I didn’t manage it on Sunday) a very big thank you to all those that joined in on Sunday…….it was so nice to see the Clubhouse packed and full of good humour, despite the weather. The total money raised has gone up a little bit and now stands at £2211 – a fantastic result.
Thank you all for making Mike’s Day so very special.
Judy (& family)
It goes without saying that thanks go to all the helpers/donors too!

Mike Willson Charity Day - Result
Despite the slightly inclement weather today, the Mike Willson Charity competition today was a raging success with 17 teams of 4 players taking part!! The day commenced with beverages and biscuits in the clubhouse followed by an 18-hole Dallas Scramble competition. Hot drinks and nibbles were kindly provided at the halfway point as well as a "special comfort break service" to the clubhouse!! After the golf, we were all treated to a 2-course hot meal with a team quiz followed by the presentation of competition prizes, raffle prizes and an auction of special items kindly donated by individuals.
The competition winners were the team of Chris Moore, Max Smith, Tim Butler & Jimmy Green. Runners-up were Mark France, Shey Walder, Tony Glover & Danny Glover followed by Rod Spring, Richard Cross, John Clark & Richard Hook in third place. Full result - click here.
It goes without saying that an event like this takes an enormous amount of effort by many people to organise and run and to try and thank them all individually would be impossible on these pages - we all know who they are anyway!! So, with that in mind, there are two main thank-you's to make. Firstly to Judy Willson who has worked tirelessly over the last few weeks (and today) to make this event possible. Secondly to all the folks who attended today and were more than generous with their various donations. We raised in excess of £2,000 for the charity today and I'm sure Mike Willson would have been very proud of both Judy and the club for this effort. Well done everyone!!!!
Lastly - here are some pictures from the day. There are a lot more pictures to come and I will publish them as soon as I get them.
