Parker Hart

Unbelievable weather again for the Parker Hart competition today, a little misty at first but beautiful warm sunshine for most of the day. Nine pairings competed in this fourball strokeplay event off 3/4 handicaps.
It was a very close competition today with the top 6 teams separated by just one stroke! The top 4 places all recorded the same score of 66 and the result was decided on countback. The winners were Paul Tebbutt & Stuart Briginshaw whose back 9 of 30 was enough to claim the trophy. Runners-up were Dean Butler & John Cooper with a back 9 of 33 followed by Geoff Denner & Sandy Deacon and Jeremy Twaits & Jason Allum.

Following the golfing event, Judy Willson presented a cheque for £2,222.22 to Matron Amanda Hart from West Berkshire hospital. The money, which will go towards the Therapy Garden at West Berks Hospital, was raised earlier in the year at the Mike Willson Charity Day. Thanks to all who donated towards this excellent cause.

Seniors Foursomes

Perfect weather conditions for the seniors today - warm, sunny and a slight breeze. Twelve teams played in today's competition which was a foursomes Stableford with the men playing from the yellow tees.
Most agree that this is the most difficult format of golf for a team, but there were some decent scores returned. The winners today were John Clark & Gordon Turner with an excellent score of 39pts. Runners-up were Paul Tebbutt & Linda Vale on 35pts followed in third place by Mike Workman & Sandy Deacon who just beat Allan Trotman & Liz Evans and Raymond Bilton & Steve Vale on countback after all three teams scored 33pts.

Just one 2 was recorded today by John Baron on the short par 4 14th hole. Unfortunately(!), John did not enter the two's competition, so no payout this month. There was a roll-over from last month's medal, so the October Medal will be a double roll-over!!

In the Owen Millennium Trophy, Jeremy Twaits leads the way on 333. The chasing pack of John Day(342), Andrew Mead(343) & Dean Butler(343) have a lot of ground to make up in next month's medal!!
