THE FINAL HURRAH

Today was our last ever competition at the racecourse. A Texas Scramble with ten teams of 3 taking part. A massive thank-you to all those taking part today and supporting the club right to the end. Those who optimistically opted for shorts today might have regretted it a little with a chilly northerly breeze blowing, but no matter!!!

The winners today were Tim Page, Geoff Denner & Dianne McIntyre with a score of 57.0. Runners-up were Stuart Briginshaw, Harry Jackson & Jan Hinks (57.4) followed by Steve Cobb, Rowland Barnfield & Stephen Vale (58.0).

Winners - Geoff, Dianne & Tim

Afterwards, all the players gathered in Nuffield for the presentations and a buffet lunch. Thanks to all the organisers today for organising all the prizes, trophies and food.

Although golf has finished at the racecourse, this may not be the end of our special little club. As you know we intend to try and continue to get together a few times a year and play as a society at other clubs. Watch this space!!!

Lastly, a personal thank-you from me for your kind words and support today. It meant so much to me.

Adieu.

May Seniors Medal

A beautiful day for the final seniors medal at the racecourse today. Unfortunately, the scores didn't quite reach the heady heights of the temperature out there. Everyone seemed to have at least one disaster on the card!! But, never mind - it was a nice day to be out there anyway!!

Fifteen players played in two divisions.

The winner in division 1 was Barry Heath with a nett 75 followed by John Butcher and Raymond Bilton who carded the lowest gross.

In division 2, Tom Wallin was the victor with a nett 74. Gordon Turner and Richard Cross were 2nd and 3rd respectively both scoring nett 77.

Just one 2 was recorded today by Raymond Bilton. It was a multiple rollover so Raymond can now buy a Lamborghini (just a model one)!!!

May Medal

With a number of people away, just seven players competed in the final club medal to be played at the racecourse. The weather was kind as well!!

The winner with an excellent nett 68 was the in-form Mike Miller. Runner-up was John Butcher just ahead of Jeremy Twaits on count-back after both carded nett 73. Consolation for Jeremy was that he shot the lowest gross.

There was a rollover of the two's pool from last month and the jackpot was scooped by Mike Miller with a 2 at the very challenging par 3 17th. Well done Mike!!!
