Wendy Seymour Texas Scramble
A very enjoyable and successful day today at the Racecourse for the annual Wendy Seymour Texas Scramble. The players assembled early at the clubhouse for some bacon rolls and beverages ready for a shotgun start at 8:30. Our thanks go to the Wessex Club for providing the catering for this before first light!! Twenty teams of three competed today including seven teams of visitors. It was nice to see many ex-members and old friends still supporting this event and special thanks to Paul Seymour & Dan for presenting the prizes. Overall we raised £342 today for the Rarer Cancers Foundation - thanks to everyone for their generosity.
Appropriately, the top scoring team overall today were Dan Seymour, Scott Vodkins & Charlie Butler who scored a very impressive 53.2 (gross 60) to take the prize of the best visiting team.
For the club event, the winners were Roy Martinez, Ian Martinez & Mike Smith on 55.0 (gross 64). Runners-up on count-back were John Day, John Baron & Stuart Briginshaw whose back 6 holes was just fractionally better than Derrick Perrin, Jim Green & Tommy Lees after both teams scored nett 55.4

Seniors Stableford
Unfortunately, the scheduled Seniors Medal had to be cancelled today as two of the holes were closed due to ongoing groundworks on the course. No matter ... the thirty-eight players who attended today played a 16-hole Stableford competition instead! The Seniors Medal has been re-scheduled to Thursday 19th December. Chilly conditions again today with some light drizzle first thing, but it soon cleared away.
The winner of today's competition was Gordon Turner with an excellent 39pts - pretty good for just 16 holes!! The next three players all returned 36pts with Richard Aldred claiming the runners-up spot on count-back just ahead of Jim Green and Allan Trotman.
