There were five four-ball matches and the racecourse were the winners by 3 1/2 to 1 1/2 in a closely fought contest. We all look forward to the return match at Bishopswood in October.

Seniors Four-ball Strokeplay

More gorgeous weather for the seniors in their four-ball strokeplay competition. Thirteen pairings (twenty-two men and four ladies) competed for the prizes today.
The winning partnership by 5 strokes and an excellent score of 63 were seniors captain John Day & Chris Piper. Runners-up were Bob Evans & Steve Thompson on 68, closely followed by Brian Faithfull & Mike Miller just one shot further back.

April Medal

Fifteen players (12 men and 3 ladies) for the April Medal today who played in one mixed division. Some very fine drizzle but overall conditions weren't too bad.
The clear winner today with a super score of nett 66 was John Cooper. Runner up was Dean Butler on nett 69 followed by Jeremy Twaits with a nett 70. Jeremy's 82 was the lowest gross of the day.

Just one two recorded today from Dean Butler at the 17th. There was a roll-over from the last medal, so Dean wins that as well!!! Two's do seem a lot harder to come by these days on the new course!!

As we are now into the "summer medals", the Owen Millennium Trophy and Summer Medal Aggregate competitions are now under way. It's early days at the moment as you really need four medals to qualify, but I have created the latest standings using two scores from the last two medals. To see these, click on the links below.

Seniors April Medal

An easterly wind blowing but quite pleasant conditions for the seniors medal today. There was a separate senior men's and ladies medal. This was the senior men's first strokeplay outing of the year from the white tees - which may explain the higher than usual scoring.

In the Senior Men's section the clear winner was Derrick Perrin with a nett 69. His gross 83 was also the lowest of the day and Derrick was the only player to break par! The runners-up spot was decided on count-back with Paul Tebbutt just edging out Allan Trotman and Roy Whiting after each of them returned nett 74.

In the Senior Ladies section, Jan Hinks was the winner on nett 80 followed by Sam Whiting just one shot further back.

Just one two recorded today from Stephen Vale on the long 17th. The lucky man scoops the double rollover jackpot!!!
