Carole Scott Cup

Fifty-two players competed in the Carole Scott Cup today. This competition is named in memory of Carole Scott, an ex-lady captain of the club who is fondly remembered by many at the club. The competition was played in less than ideal conditions with wind and rain the main ingredients of the day. This year the competition was played as a strokeplay event (Stableford previously) which meant that no handicap adjustments needed to be made for this mixed gender competition.
Todays winner with nett 68 was the ever improving Kim Richardson whose handicap is now down to 18. Runner-up with the best gross of the day was Ian Martinez who scored a superb gross 74 (nett 69) just beating Roger Tillett into third place on the same nett score.

March Seniors Medal

After two days of near "spring-like" weather, the sun disappeared and the cold easterly wind returned making the course long and difficult for the Seniors medal today. As a testament to the conditions, only 4 players managed to break gross 90 today !!!
The winner of the gold medal was last month's winner Raymond Bilton with an excellent nett 68. Raymond, whose handicap was reduced to 9.5 after this performance, recorded the lowest gross of the day (78) and was the only player to break 80.
Runner-up and winner of the silver medal was Jim Green with a very creditable nett 71. Third place was decided on count-back with Richard Hook just managing to beat Mike Charlton both scoring nett 74.
