John Ives Memorial Trophy

In the wettest drought on record, twenty pairs braved the elements today to compete in the John Ives Memorial Trophy. This is a mixed four-ball better-ball strokeplay event played off 3/4 handicap (white tees for men). The rain and southerly wind meant the course was playing long and scoring was not at all easy.
The conditions did not deter our winners today, Josh Wallin and Stefan Klas, who carded a superb nett 67, the only pair to break par today. Runners-up on nett 71 were Nigel Huszarik and Carl McCartney followed by Roger and Maria Tillett who just pipped Paul Seymour and Steve Bonner on count-back after both returned nett 72. Thanks to all competitors today for completing their rounds in trying conditions.

Congratulations Dan!!!

Well done to Dan Seymour who won the EuroPro Motocaddy Masters in a play-off at a very wet Wensum Valley today. The first EuroPro event of the season was shortened from 54 holes to 36 holes after play was abandoned for heavy rain causing a four-hour delay on the first day. After completion of the 36 holes of regular play, Dan was tied at one under with Liam Burns from Sundridge Park who had earlier finished with an eagle at the last par 5. The first play-off hole was halved in par 5's but Dan managed to birdie it second tme round to claim the winners trophy. Dan now leads the EuroPro Order of Merit!!!!

Message from Paul Seymour

Hi all
I am participating in a charity night rider bike ride in memory of my darling wife who sadly passed away in 2010.
The charity I am supporting is the rarer cancers foundation. We would like to make people more aware of the unknown cancers and the help and support that is available to them through the RCF.
To find out more and help support me in this challenge please go to http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/paulseymour2

All your support will be greatly appreciated by myself and our families

Kindest regards
Paul Seymour

April Fool Texas Scramble

A damp, drizzly day at the Racecourse today for the annual April Fool Texas Scramble. But the damp and breezy conditions didn't affect the scoring too much with many excellent scores returned. Nineteen teams of 3 competed for the prizes.
The winners were the team of Mark Allen, Jon Miller and Allison Holmes with an impressive 57.4 just ahead of unlucky runners-up Dave Warwick, Roger Tillett and Jim Holmes (57.6) who carded the lowest gross of the day 64. Third place went to last years winners Darren Boyce, Lorraine Storey and Jean Raincock on 59.2. Well done to all competitors for completing their rounds today in trying conditions. April Weekday Stableford

An excellent field for the April Weekday Stableford played on Thu 5th and Fri 6th April. Thirty-five players took part with some excellent scores being returned.
The winner this month on count-back scoring 42 points was Josh Wallin. Runner-up on the same score was Dan Green. Third place went to Bob Stevenson who just edged out Dave Warwick on count-back after both scored 41 points. Full result - click here.
In addition to the usual way of entering, there was an option to join via a roll-up on Friday morning. This proved very popular, with over 20 men, ladies, seniors and juniors including the top 4 finishers in the competition. Easter eggs were awarded to the two top scorers, so congratulations again to Josh and Dan.

Seniors April Medal

April Medal

Back to the sunshine today for the April Medal, although this could be the last of it for a while as we seem set for some cooler stuff and a bit of much needed rain over the next week!
Plenty of good scoring today and very tight with three of the four divisions being decided on count-back.

Division 1
In the top division, Richard Mead was the victor earning his first medal on count-back from Dave Warwick and Andy Steadman after all three returned nett 69. Andy Steadman carded the lowest gross with an impressive 74. Full result - click here.

Division 2
Another count-back in this division saw Aubrey Phillips take first place from Paul Hickey after both scored excellent nett 65. Josh Wallin took third place on nett 67 with the lowest gross in this division of 80. Full result - click here.

Division 3
More count-backs in this division with John Swallow winning his second medal of the year from Nick Turner (lowest gross) after both carded nett 71. Third place went to Mike Chamberlain on nett 73. Full result - click here.

Ladies
No count-backs required for the winners spot in the ladies division. Maria Tillett was the clear winner on nett 66 also picking up her second medal of the year. Runner-up was Sarah Purvis who just pipped Sam Whiting on ... you guessed it ... count-back after both scored nett 72. Full result - click here.

Two's
Plenty of action on the par 3's this month with one special shot from Phil Knight who recorded a hole-in-one at the 2nd. There were plenty of two's as well from John Baron and Josh Wallin at the 2nd, Aubrey Phillips at the 6th, Dean Butler and Pete Turner at the 11th and Richard Osgood at the 16th. I wonder how many entered the two's pool?!?!

Owen Millennium Trophy
Two rounds of medals now completed for the Owen Millennium Trophy. Josh Wallin currently tops the table on 161 closely followed by John Day and Roger Tillett both on 166. There are potentially eight medals counting towards this trophy (Mar - Oct) with the best four gross scores counting, so still plenty of time to get your name on the leaderboard.
