Seniors - Waltz123
After a couple of weeks absence due to the inclement weather conditions, the seniors were back in action today in their normal Wednesday morning slot. The course was a bit damp but quite playable, but we had to stock-check the incoming groups to make sure nobody went missing in the near gale-force winds!!!
Today's competition was a Waltz123 Stableford played in teams of three players. On the first hole, the best Stableford score counts, then the best two scores on the second hole, then all three scores on the third hole. This is then repeated for the rest of the round.
The winning team with an excellent score of 78pts were Derrick Perrin, Richard Hook and Colin Cox. Runners-up were Paul Tebbutt, Roy Whiting and Ofer Ben-David on 74pts, followed by Raymond Bilton, Stephen Vale and Chris Piper on 71pts. Full result - click here.

Members update ...
Dear Member,
Firstly, a very Happy New Year to you all, I hope that you managed to fit in some golf before the snow came down and now that it has gone, you can get golfing again! I just wanted to update you on a couple of items and just to keep you up to speed with goings-on at the club.
Renewals, bag tags, diaries etc!
Thank to all those who have renewed your membership and are continuing to support the club. Apologies for the delay in receiving your new membership tags, diaries and race badges, these are now available to collect from the pro shop. I hope that you get the chance to make plenty of use of your membership this year, especially now that the snow has thawed!
Measured Course / Important changes to the Standard Scratch Score’s
As most of you will be aware, since the introduction of the car park and subsequent changes to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd, it has not been possible to play qualifying competitions. This is because an application to both the men’s and ladies county unions is required in order that the course from the various sets of tees can be classed as an official ‘measured courses’. This had not been done at the time and therefore qualifying competitions were not possible, however, with the help of both the B.B.&O. and Berkshire Ladies Golf Union, this process has now been completed and qualifying competitions can again be played.
Due to these changes, the Standard Scratch score from each set of tees has changed however, with each being reduced by one shot. From the white tees, the SSS is now 70, it is now 68 from the yellow tees and 70 from the red tees. If you have any queries relating to these changes, please do not hesitate to contact either myself or John Christopher, the Handicaps Secretary.
Information, information, information!
One of the things I would like to do before the golfing season really gets going is to ensure that I have up to date contact details for every member, ensuring that communication can be carried out in the most efficient and effective way. In order to help me with this, I would be very grateful if EVERY member could either complete the form that is in the pack with the diaries and bag tags or even easier than doing that, complete the form below and send to ed.richardson@newburygolf.co.uk. Apologies for all the form filling, it just makes life far easier if we can contact you, by email if possible, and I can reassure you that these details will be used for golf club correspondence only and will not be passed to any 3rd party.

Nevertheless, twenty-eight hardy souls completed their rounds in this Stableford competition with some excellent scores returned. As there were less than 30 players, the medal was played in two divisions for the men (Div1 - 0-14, Div2 - 15-28) and there was a separate medal for the six ladies.
