The first competition of the new year was played by the seniors yesterday. The competition was a stroke-play medal off the yellow tees for men played as a non-qualifier. Thirty men and four ladies competed for the prizes.
In the men's event, just two players managed to break net par. Ofer Ben-David was the clear winner with an excellent score of 67. Runner-up was Harry Jackson on 70. One stroke further back, Steve Vale was in third spot beating Malcolm Passey, Bob Stevenson and Tommy Lees on count-back. Malcolm Passey and John Day shared the lowest gross of 85. For the ladies, Jan Hinks started this year as she finished last year with another win on 74. Linda Vale grabbed the runners-up spot just one stroke behind Jan. Sam Whiting recorded the lowest gross for the ladies. Full result - click here.
