February Medal

The last of this winter's Stableford medals from the yellow tees was played yesterday. Thirty-six men and six ladies competed for the prizes in blustery conditions so scoring was not easy (it never is!!!!).

Division 1
The top division was extremely close with 2 points separating the top six places. Three players were tied at the top with 36 points, but count-back ensured Roger Tillett (12hcp) emerged as the winner over Max Nicholls (7hcp) and Jon Miller (10hcp). Fourth place on 35 points was also decided on count-back with Ian Folwell (11hcp) just edging out John Day (10hcp).

Division 2
The top score in division 2 this month was also 36 points with Andrew Buchanan (13 hcp) the clear winner. Two points further back, count-back decided that Roy Whiting (18hcp) finished just ahead of Mark Richardson (13hcp).

Ladies
After three medal wins last year, Sarah Purvis (24hcp) continued her good form and opened her account early this year with another win. Just one point behind was runner-up Maria Tillett (16hcp) carding 31 points. Third place went to Lucy Mortimer (17hcp) on 29 points.

Just as a footnote ....
As many of you will know by now, the committee are making determined attempts to speed up the pace of play in competitions which in all honesty (in a number of cases) has been unacceptable and a frustration for all.
The good news was that all groups were round today in 3 and 3/4 hours or less which is an excellent achievement. Well done to everyone !!!! Let's make this the rule NOT the exception.
