More miserable weather today for the seniors!! But the conditions didn't dampen the spirits of the hardy seniors too much. Today's competition was a Texas Scramble with eleven teams of 3 taking part.
The winning team with a score of 60.2 were Malcolm Passey, Stuart Briginshaw & Les Eden. Runners-up on 60.4 were John Day, Mike Workman & Jan Hinks followed by Allan Trotman, John Christopher & Steve Vale with 62.4.

Tuesday Evening League - W3
The third week of the Tuesday Evening League was completed last night. Fourteen players braved the wind and rain to play in this 9-hole Stableford competition. This week's winner was Ian Martinez with an excellent level par round and 21pts.

John Ives Trophy
Not the best of weather for the John Ives Memorial Trophy played today. It was raining virtually non-stop for the first 9 holes, but it did brighten up for the second nine!!! Sixteen players competed for the prizes in this four-ball better-ball stroke-play competition.
The winning team with a score of nett 70 were Phil Knight & Jason Allum. Runners-up were Paul Hickey & Jeremy Twaits who just pipped John Butcher & Sandy Deacon on count-back after both teams scored nett 71.

This is another board competition which counts towards the Order of Merit. Jason Allum leads the way at the moment with Paul Hickey and John Butcher not too far behind them.

Anyone recognise this rather stern looking chap playing in the Pro-Am at Wentworth this week? His caddie looks a lot happier than him .... probably because he's getting paid!!!

Seniors Bowmaker
Today's event for the seniors was a Bowmaker stroke-play competition played in beautiful weather conditions. Ten teams of 3 and one "cheeky" team of 4 competed for today's prizes.
The winning team with a superb score of 127 was Derrick Perrin, Steve Vale & Colin Cox. The runners-up on 134 were Sam Whiting, Les Eden, Barry Heath & Alan Owen followed by Gordon Turner, Roy Whiting & John Butcher just beaten on count-back courtesy of a better back 9.

So far we have 19 players involved, but it's certainly not too late to come along and join in. You would be made very welcome. Just turn up on a Tuesday Evening - tee times are normally from between 17:30 and 18:00. There is a weekly prize for the best score on that evening and prizes at the end of the competition for the best 7 scores out of the 14 or 15 weeks.
On week1 Mike Pritchard was the best of the evening and Dean Butler took the prize in week 2.

Edward Pearce Trophy
The seniors played their second board competition of the year today at the racecourse. The Edward Pearce trophy is a seniors mixed singles Stableford. Really nice weather with the usual racecourse breeze blowing across the course!! Twenty six men and three ladies competed for the prizes.
The winner with an excellent total of 42pts was John Clark. Runner-up on count-back was Richard Aldred who just edged out Richard Cross both having scored 37pts.
