Seniors Club Championships R2

The second and final round of the Seniors Club Championships was played today at the racecourse in changeable conditions. A bit chilly at the start but very warm and humid for the back 9. Of course, there was the usual strong westerly breeze blowing just to keep people on their toes!!

 In the ladies championship, Sam Whiting increased her first round lead to become the Senior Ladies Champion for the third time in the last 5 years. Runner-up in the gross competition was Linda Vale. Sandy Deacon collected the nett prize to add to her nett ladies prize at the main ladies club championships.

 In the men's event, Raymond Bilton carded the best round of the day to ensure he won the Senior Men's Championship with a combined score of 175. Richard Aldred was runner-up four strokes further back. Steve Vale won the nett category with a score of 145 four shots ahead of runner-up Harry Jackson.

    A big disappointment that the greens were not cut today seeing it was the seniors championships. Was there any reason why they were left uncut? I think this is the worst I have ever seen the greens in a competition. What a shame for all who played today.

    I think it is a cosmetic policy to ensure that the greens blend in well with their surroundings!!
