THE FINAL HURRAH

Today was our last ever competition at the racecourse. A Texas Scramble with ten teams of 3 taking part. A massive thank-you to all those taking part today and supporting the club right to the end. Those who optimistically opted for shorts today might have regretted it a little with a chilly northerly breeze blowing, but no matter!!!

The winners today were Tim Page, Geoff Denner & Dianne McIntyre with a score of 57.0. Runners-up were Stuart Briginshaw, Harry Jackson & Jan Hinks (57.4) followed by Steve Cobb, Rowland Barnfield & Stephen Vale (58.0).

Afterwards, all the players gathered in Nuffield for the presentations and a buffet lunch. Thanks to all the organisers today for organising all the prizes, trophies and food.

Although golf has finished at the racecourse, this may not be the end of our special little club. As you know we intend to try and continue to get together a few times a year and play as a society at other clubs. Watch this space!!!

Lastly, a personal thank-you from me for your kind words and support today. It meant so much to me.

Adieu.

  1. As an Ex Captain I believe that an ENORMOUS thank you should go to Paul Tebbutt who has given his all for the club over the years.

Paul you have been a the "engine room" driving the club.

  2. I would like to echo Chris's comments - well done Paul, you have been a star.

Well done too to all the Committees over the years that have kept the Club on the straight and narrow!!

It is a sad end to a Club that had a great 'heart' - the like of which may never be seen again. It welcomed young and old, male and female into all competitions. No one section ever felt left out.

Good luck to all its former members, wherever they may play.

    Regards

    Judy
